This 7-day Rwanda safari adventure is designed to showcase the very best of Rwanda, combining wildlife safaris, Rwanda gorilla trekking, chimpanzee tracking, and cultural experiences. The journey takes you through Rwanda’s top national parks and scenic landscapes, offering a complete discovery of the “Land of a Thousand Hills.”

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and City Introduction

Upon arrival in Kigali International Airport, you will be welcomed by a Rwanda Treasure Tours guide and transferred to your hotel. Depending on arrival time, you may enjoy a short Kigali city tour, including visits to local markets, craft centers, and historical landmarks such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial. The evening is spent relaxing and preparing for the safari adventure ahead.

Day 2: Kigali to Akagera National Park – Afternoon Game Drive

After breakfast, you depart for Akagera National Park, Rwanda’s only savannah park. The drive takes you through beautiful countryside before arriving at the park for check-in and briefing. In the afternoon, you enjoy your first game drive across open plains, wetlands, and lakes. Wildlife sightings may include elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, antelopes, and various bird species. Dinner and overnight stay are at a lodge near or inside the park.

Day 3: Full Day Safari in Akagera National Park

This day is dedicated to a full wildlife safari experience. You explore different sections of the park, including the northern circuit, which is known for higher chances of spotting lions and rhinos. The day offers opportunities to see the Big Five in their natural habitat, along with hippos, crocodiles, and diverse birdlife. You return to your lodge in the evening for relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 4: Akagera Boat Safari and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

In the morning, you enjoy a boat safari on Lake Ihema, where you can see hippos, crocodiles, and water birds such as kingfishers and fish eagles. After the boat experience, you begin your scenic journey to Volcanoes National Park in Musanze, located in the northern part of Rwanda. You arrive in the evening and check into your lodge near the volcanoes.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

This is the highlight of the safari. After an early breakfast, you head to the park headquarters for briefing before starting your gorilla trekking experience. The trek can take between 2 to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family. Once found, you spend one magical hour observing mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. In the afternoon, you return to your lodge to rest and reflect on the experience.

Day 6: Golden Monkey Tracking and Transfer to Nyungwe Forest

After breakfast, you enjoy golden monkey tracking in Volcanoes National Park, a fun and active experience in the bamboo forests. Later, you begin your journey to Nyungwe Forest National Park in southwestern Rwanda, passing through beautiful tea plantations and rolling hills. You arrive in the evening for dinner and overnight stay at a forest lodge.

Day 7: Chimpanzee Tracking and Canopy Walk – Return to Kigali

Early in the morning, you enter Nyungwe Forest for chimpanzee tracking, where you observe our closest relatives in the wild. After the trek, you experience the famous canopy walkway, offering stunning views of the rainforest from above. In the afternoon, you drive back to Kigali, marking the end of your 7-day Rwanda safari adventure.
